Dot IT Domain Name Registrations

Introduced in 1987, Italy’s dot IT country-specific domain name extension is quite popular both locally and in the English-speaking world. The reason is that the domain is a pronoun, which can be used for forming inventive and attractive domain names – write.it, youcanmake.it and so on. This is a way to have an easy-to-memorize domain name, so that it will be easier for your visitors to go back to your website or to give it with colleagues and fellows. The extension can also be used for a website, which is connected to the information sector given that IT is an abbreviation, which is well-known worldwide.

Since dot IT domains are not provided directly by IT-NIC, the Registry organization that administrates this top-level extension, such a domain can be bought through a third-party domain provider, such as ours. We will handle the registration process for you and take care of submitting your application to the Registry organization. You can order a .IT domain for a period of one year at a time, and the domains are transferable, so you can move your existing domain over to us and we will renew it after the transfer has been done. The only condition is that the person obtaining such a domain has to be situated in a member state of the EU.

Because there are existing Second-Level Domains that include names of different areas and localities in Italy reserved for local 3rd-level registrations, new names that consist of geographical areas of any sort are not permitted on any level to avoid any future confusion. We do not support such 3rd-level domains, though, because they can be registered only by locals.
