SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, that is employed to verify if an email message was sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain will stop the forging of email addresses created with the domain. In simple words: activating this function for a domain name creates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP of the servers which are allowed to send e-mails from mailboxes using the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it exists on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Whenever a new e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses verifies if it comes from an accredited server. If it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, but when it does not come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. Thus nobody can mask an e-mail address and make it look as if you're e-mailing spam. This approach is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

If you host your domain names in a shared hosting account on our end and we manage the emails for them, you are able to enable SPF protection for all of them with several clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service can be found in its own section where you're able to view which domains are already secured. For the ones that are not, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection service and manage numerous things at the same time - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your e-mail addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to set a rule that messages can be sent only when your domain names use our MX records. The last option is the most secure one, and you can use it when we manage the e-mails for your domains and you're not using a different e-mail service provider. The newly generated records will be activated within 1 day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an email with your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, which is included with all of our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, offers you an incredibly user-friendly interface to activate the SPF protection service for any domain name that you host inside your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that then you'll only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be allowed to send out messages from your e-mail addresses. When the email messages are taken care of by us and not by another provider, you can raise the security level even further and activate an option for your outgoing e-mail messages to be sent only if your domain names feature our MX records. This option will provide you with more control and it'll eliminate any possibility of somebody counterfeiting your e-mails with the purpose of spamming and / or scamming people. It's not applicable when just your web site is on our advanced cloud website hosting platform, while your emails are managed by a different provider. If you are not sure what options to select, our tech support crew will assist you 24/7.
